Back in the fold?

Post by franko666 » Sat May 01, 2021 9:10 pm

After driving my 2017 xe diesel tractor, I decided to move to a BMW 330i.
Now I want or move back to the xe P250. Can anyone confirm what the service intervals are on the petrol xe?

Every year or 16000miles (at least on my XE and F-Pace) - the 2021 P250 might be different but I doubt it as the engines haven't undergone any changes as far as I know.

My 2019 P250 is every 21,000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first. According to Jaguar Technical rather than my dealer who initially tried to tell me it was every 12 months whilst trying to sell me a very expensive service plan.

Mine (68 plate) is every 12 months or 12k miles. But for some reason the newer ones are longer intervals.

I wonder what spells they cast to allow them to extend the petrol service interval from 1 year to 2 years? Unless someone knows otherwise, I was under the impression that the oily bits are all the same, so if that's the case, they should be able to extend intervals for pre MY20 cars to 2 years. Fat hope of that happening with very lucrative service charges!! Sadly it's bean counters who make the decisions rather than engineers and it's all about having to be on a par with what other manufacturers are doing in my view. Maybe 2 years is fine but I will still always change my oil every year

I confirmed with my dealer and they stated 2yrs or 21,000 miles. This will bring me to Sept. this year.

Also I am now seeing the service reminder display quoting due in 500 miles. Although 4 months away this could be correct due to limited use during Covid restrictions and me using the Tuk Tuk for local trips when it is not raining. 🛺🛺🛺

The service interval that always confuses me is in the 2.0 d evoque, all wheel drive is 2 years and 2 wheel drive is 1 year, exact same engines, go figure
