I don't know where the suggestion Meguiars was aggressive
Sorry Phil, poor choice of words.
I see one can buy a kit of Meguiars Compound, polish, wax and mitt for £40.

Since I need the compound, should I get that, do my best with the arches, and then polish wax the car next time it's a cloudy day with nothing to do?

Or does anyone think the G3 is better for this job?
(I'm not trying to start an argument - just get all the info! :D )

It's an area that is very hotly debated.
I personally use all Meguiars stuff.
Others will use other brands etc but in truth it's whatever you find you like best.
The ultimate compound should clean up the paint.
It won't fill in any of the chips but it should take it back to a glossy finish.
I would then just give the area you have worked on a treatment with wax or one of the many other potions that will protect it until you get round to doing the whole car (if you want to).

Thanks Phil
Meguiars it is, and some daubing with my touch-up stick after the compound.

Meguiars do some very good products. I've used their metal polish , plastic polish and car shampoo and am very impressed with the results.

I noticed a couple of other potential areas where stones may fly up so I made and fitted a couple of more pieces of vinyl to the front part of the sill and rear lower

bumper behind the rear wheel from my remaining vinyl .

ant have you thought of applying some clear wrap and see what it looks like? I’ve just done mine on my new car. I just bought some good quality clear wrap on eBay £7 incl delivery and easily enough to do both sides.
