Improved fuel consumption

Post by Fighterpilot » Mon May 03, 2021 12:32 pm

Having had very few longer journeys in the past 18 months I noticed that my general fuel consumption had started hovering around 38 mpg on the usual short journeys. On my last fill up I added a whole bottle of Redex system cleaner to the tank. On Wednesday last week I decided to give the car a reasonable blast of 80 motorway miles. Now after 4 days of short journeys I am getting 45mpg+ on short runs. The car feels to run better, as well. I got the system cleaner from Tesco on offer for £5. If it comes on offer again I will probably get a couple more bottles and use at every 4th fill up. It seems to have given things in the engine internals, a general clean up.

Yes 9C here with a northerly gale. Well it was on Wed last week and hasn't improved much either. ;)
